A Floral Affair
(Kim) When Mum, Lawrie, Christie, Robyn and I went to Bridal Expo at Burswood earlier this year, we just so happened across the florist located in the lobby of the Resort. Kathryn, owner of Affair of Flowers certainly captured the attention of Mum and I and a couple of weeks ago we went to speak to her about my plans for the flowers. She seemed excited to take on the challenge as the colour that we are using as a base is 'unusual'. Last week I caught up with Kathryn about the different flowers we could use and she showed me a tulip and an orchid in the exact colour I was looking for! The good news is that we can get the colour and the flowers that I want, now the challenge for me begins, choosing a style! I have an idea of what I do and don't want, now it's just finding the right one!
"Yes, I will marry you!"
(Kim) Just a quick note to let you know that Glenn and I finally asked our Senior Pastor at Subi Church, Graham Johnston, to marry us and he said yes! For more info about Graham, you can check out the Subi Church website. Just click on the link "the team".
Beautiful Bridesmaids
(Kim) The 8th of September was a fun day! I finally managed to get Christie, Lawrie, Robyn and Mum all in the same place at the same time, Hooray!
The first thing we did was make our way to Pearl's Bridal so that I could show Lawrie and Robyn my dress. Robyn took lots of photos for me so that I could choose some to send to Opa as he has told me he wont be able to travel over to Perth for the wedding. Robyn took a lovely shot of Christie, Lawrie, Mum and I which I will send over to him.
After our 8.30am appointment at Pearl's, we made our way to Caversham House to have brunch. Unfortunately I didn't plan this at all well because they were not open for anything more than coffee until 11.30am and we had places to be! Lawrie and Robyn were able to have a look around the grounds and see where our magic day will be celebrated, and I am pleased to say that they gave their approval!
We drove around the Swan Valley for a while trying to find somewhere to have a meal but everywhere was closed so we took the highway, then the freeway to Joondalup. Friends of mine had suggested to visit a store there that they had chosen their bridesmaids gowns from.
We stopped at a cafe for brunch (although it was almost lunch now!) and a chat about what my requests were for the dresses. I knew the colour I wanted and an idea on the design, it was just a matter of finding a dress that fit the idea, and the girls! Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of luck in Joondalup as they pretty much had about 10 designs in every size. Nothing was grabbing my attention, so we hit the road again and headed back towards the city.
Whilst we were in Leederville we stopped at a pub for a drink before visiting a lingere store. Lawrie had me in fits of laughter when she picked up the largest g-string I have ever seen in my life and wrapped it around herself twice! I have to admit that I have never seen any underware that have hung down to a persons knees before! Anyway...
We looked at 3 other stores before we made the decision visit Studio Collections where we found the dress I was looking for. It came in the right colour, it met all of my requirements and it was finally on layby. The only disappointment was that I was not able to see the dresses in the colour - they have to be made to order.
It was a long day for the girls, and I am sure they were just happy to finally stop trying things on and sit down! There were a few hiccups along the way, but the day was a success and I want to thank both of my sisters, my sister-to-be and my Mum for putting up with me during the day. I really appreciate your time and patience girls, you're awesome!
